In India, neither parents nor the rulers as a whole care for the exeptional individual who, if encouraged, would be able to make mighty contributions to social and national well-being. Most often, and individual is left to rot or dismmsed as a disturbing freak. An average Indian feel at home and comfortable with spineless mediocrity. A brilliant or original official cannot survive in the India of today; he has to hide his light under a bushed or get out. Knowing, which preveailed to a certain extent in British days, is now a sine qua non of meritoriousness. There is a classic example here. A student who had topped the list of the B.A examination in his State, yet, as he with tears in his eyes could not get a decent job, while a colleage of, she, who was way down in the final results, received a scholarship from the authorities because her father was a judge of the High Court and could pull the right strings. Kind Regards! Sunder T
