Subject: Digital Dabbawalas (Mumbai`s lunch tiffin carriers). It is more than a decade since the world realised that Mumbai`s lunch-dabba system is an act of urban genius. Now the dabbawalas are also offering click-based services at your doorsteps. This is the most indigenous food delivery system in the world. The Forbes magazine gave the lunchbox delivery men a Six Sigma performance rating or a 99.999999 percent of precision, which means they make one error in 16 million deliveries! Since last 125 years, there has not been a single instance of a lunchbox that has been delivered to its destination. Around 5,000 dabbawalas travel over 60 to 70 kms daily to delivery over 2,00,000 lunchboxes across Mumbai. Sunder Thadani. 20161129.

India is gradually switching to digital modes of financial transactions. It is now reaching the grassroots. You can call it New-Age Solutions. After demonetisation of currency notes of Rs. 1000, and Rs. 500, people are switching over to digital methods, and the transactions are reaching grassroots. Soon India will become cashless society as per P.M. Modi`s dream. India welcomes digital economy and cashless transactions! Smart banking applications allows all transactions to be completed from the device of one's choice, from beginning to end. The fact that more and more Indians are today relying on artificial intelligence of digital banking and moving to cashless transactions. DigiEdu, a unit of Sunder Foundation for Fee Free Online Digital Education for all, Anytime, Anywhere. Mobilise Mobile Money Infrastructure Recent Currency ban by India for rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 currency notes -November 08, 2016. Get volunteers to educate rural Indians: Rural India is particularly hard hit by the scarcity of currency notes induced by the government`s demonetisation scheme. Most people transact almost exclusively in cash, bank branches are few and far between and newly minted notes ven their way to rural branches very slowly. People struggle to make payments, except when some unethical entrepreneurs offer to accept old notes at a discount of anything up to 30%. It is high time government to devise means to put to use the mobile payment infrastructure that the banking system has built up around the electronic backbone provided by the National Payment Corporation of India. Even without smartphones, people can send the money in their bank accounts,if they sign up for mobile banking, to other people with bank accounts, using a communication protocol called Unstructured Supplementary Service Data, which enables a t wo-say connection between the consumer`s phone and the telecom service provider's computers. About 50 banks are on this platform. The remitter must acquire a seven-digit Mobile Money Identifier (MMID) and a mobile Personal Identification Number. Some details on the payee are also needed, naturally: his phone number and MMID, his account and IFSC Code or just his Aadhaar number; Mobile wallets operated by telecom service providers, such as Airtel Money, can simplify matters further. And things will get even simpler when telcos that have obtained payment bank licences launch their operations. all hurdles in their path must be cleared. To get rural folk to use mobile banking will call for some extensive education. Necessity is a great teacher. That said, it would be useful if political parties and their associated youth and other organisations act as volunteers who guide people on the use of mobile banking. This will not remove all the strain arising from the disappearing of cash. But it would ease the pain for many. This issued for the public information for the members of sundercircle. Indian electric vehicle draws world attention. An Indian delivery person in Bangalore recently test drove an electric bicycle. His deliveries doubled with minimum effort. Started by two brothers Raja and Rahul Gayam, in 2010 BMW's first electric vehicle was an auto-rickshaw. Priced around Rs. 45,000, the bicycle augments a rider`s ability to travel longer and faster. With fully charged battery, the bicycle can run up to 60 km. Once purchased, the rider spends about Rs. 4 per 60 km with practically zero maintenance. Sunder Thadani - 20161118.

DigiEdu4all Good news is that Reliance Industries is preparing to launch feature phone with 4G capability creating a new category of mobile device in India, in a bid to attract users to its telecom venture Reliance Jio Infocomm. These devices could be priced as low as Rs.1000 and will come bundled with unlimited voice and video calling, besides digital content, people familiar with the plans. These devices will offer the feature phones with Voice over LTE (VoLTE) technology, seeking to win over customers from the rural and tier-3 markets who use phones mainly to make calls. About 65% of India`s more than 1 billion mobile phone subscribers still use feature phones. Affordability- the cheapest 4G smartphones cost about Rs. 3000 - and lack of scope for either user have deterred the faster adoption of smartphones. Jio the only telco in India that offers VoLTE to make calls, has added over 25 million users since starting services on September 5 and is targeting 100 million in the shortest time equivalent to about 38% of market leader Airtel`s 260 million subscribers in the country. Reliance is developing two feature phones priced at about Rs. 1000 and Rs.1500 that are likely be launched during January-March. The device will function just like smartphones and will include the use of data to access the internet and make calls only thing missing will be the touchscreen. If Jio launches VoLTE features phones at Rs. 1000, it can potentially shake up the market because the target audience in that segment may perfer to choose phones with free calling inbuilt. The 4G telco is working with domestic handset maker Lava International and chinese original equipment makers to manufacture these features phones. Jio is said to be subsuming part of the selling price to make the 4G features available at about Rs. 1000 (about $15). The cost of making the phones is about $25 and they are usually sold for about Rs.2500. Regards. Sunder Thadani. 20161116.

Digital transaction via e-wallet on a PC or a smartphone promises quite a few benefits. You can pay your utilities and mobile phone bills, insurance premiums, book bus, movie and flight tickets, taxi rides and more without stopping out of your home or standing in a queue. In case you are short of funds, you can send an in-app request to friends and family. On the other hand, you can send money instantly to folk who are using the services. E-wallets work like prepaid cards, so you can use them for transactions without sharing your bank details every time. They are secure, easy to operate, and are widely accepted by most service providers and e-commerce websites. Offline merchants who support e-wallets also let you pay your bill by scanning a unique QR code with the phone`s camera. The app detects the recipient`s details and all you have to do is enter the amount to be paid. No exchange of plastic cards, or hard cash. You also get discounts and cash backs in return for usage of e-wallets. (These vary with service providers and may include caveats. For instant, a cash back offer may only be for the first time you pay a utility bill or a restaurant discount that is valid at certain outlets.) You can use e-wallets from multiple e-payment services; you do not have to maintain a maintenance fees (You may need to utilize more than one e-wallet to pay all your bills, depending on the tie-ups they have with different service providers. Finally, transactions are less cumbersome, your dependence on paper money is reduced, and you can monitor your spending. Kind Regards. This info. Is for the members of sundercircle.
