[continue as no.122 - The few great minds that India has created had to discover the importance of discipline for themselves; their homes or society did not give it to them as their birthright. Naturaly, a good many years of theri lives were squandered in this effort. More: having to deal with undisplined people, their work was multiplied, for they had to begin with everyone anew. Indian society has suffered considerably because it has failed to organze the home on a rathonal basis. Ancient Indians realized the true significance of displine. In fact, they understood by education control of the body, mind and spirit. Hence the word for teaching in all the Indian language is "sikshana", which means displine.[will continues as no.123] Kind Regards - Sunder T

this blog is continueing as no. 121- The Indian grows up to be not an integrated erson, but a creature of untamed urgesand impulses. He wants many things but he knows not the right way to get them. With him, at all times, it is grab, grab, grab. Because of this attitude there is a colossal waste of human material in India. souls full of energy go about not knowing how to use this energy for their own good or for the good of others. They are likethe turbulent waters of ariver that quenches no thirst but runs into a vast desert. If harnessed, the stream could fecundate the earth or produce power to light the world. - [this blog is no. 120] By this time you know how an average Indian character is bred in selfishness. It is sucked in, so to speak with the mother`s milk. Indians are tought not to share their advantages with others but to stick to them for themselves. "That is for you," the father will say to his first born, offering a gift, "go and hide it." The mother behaves in similiar fashion; she will buy delicacies and give them on the sly to her youngest child. One day she is certain to be found out, and then will rise a terrific rumpus. But it subsidies as quickly as it comes. In Indian homes no attempt is made to treat all the children alike; there are always the favourites, who make their position felt by everyone. S, when ther is complete character-chaos in the home, how is the child to aquire either personal discipline or the social graces to guide its life? Unfortunate being, it is in a whirpol and goes round and round withou any ballast. [next will continues as # 121]Kind Regards! Sunder T

The eldest child is a privilage person; nobody musy say nay to him. Even if his ways are extravagent or absurd they must be respected,. Second in importance is the baby of the family. Between tese two the houshold runs; the other children have to take what they can get, and grow up to be bitter, jealous, vindictive. Funny things happen. In India, things become more complicated when the family is rich or aritocract; then each member of it, male or female, will want more amenities at more erratic hours. One girl, attending a college, will order the car, say, three o`clock and go off without consultingany one; her sister, having an appointment at a later hour, will commandeer another car, if there is a spare one, and make off, or stand on the verandah, fretting and fuming. when the chaufferur returns, he will receive a dressing down because he was not to be found when wanted. The man expalins that he had no alternative but to obey the instructions of her senior, who as everyone knew, had a prior right to most things. In the evening there is a first class row, in which all join, and at last the principle of romogeniture is once again established. Kind Regards! Sunder T - [next will continue as no. 119]

[continueing as no. 117 - Indian home is quite a typical home. When luch or dinner is to be prepared the situation is farce. The head of the house is in despair. Finally, after much argumentation, a compromise is reached, which in the end pleases no one. But that is not all: one sone will turn up at eight 0`clock and ask for a hot meal; another will arrive long, past midnight, wake the snoring cook, and order his food. It is is not only the menfolk who act in this way but the girls as well; each of them feels hungry at a different time. No consideration whatsoever is shown to the servant, who is in charge of the kitchen; he has to sit in fornt of braziers or gas stoves from early morning to very late in the night. Oftern a spoiled chil will request for something, and then, when dish is brought before him, change his mind and ask for a different fare. continueing as no. 116- The foundation of all discipline lies, at home, but an Indian home, rich or poor, is a veritable bedlam. Here, apart from the tyrannny of a single individual, male or female, everybody does as he or she likes. Obedience, if any, is verbal: the root behaviour is based on personal comfort and advantage. Let us enter an Indian home at breakfast-time. No member of the family, if it is well off, wants to eat the same things; one desires boiled eggs and tea, an other, something else, a third, what he or she happens to fancy at the moment, and so the demands are made. The poor cook tries to satisfy six or seven people at the same time. He fails to do this and gets everone a berating.[next will continue as no. 117]

Gandhi, too, was make of the same mettle. When India was celebrating her independence he was moving on the dusty roads of Indian villages, with pilgrim staff in hand, trying to console the fear-stricken. They just do not understand their own interests, nor di they have any ambition to plan for a life-long prosperty. Indian, not excluding the educated, are branded with the iron of selfishness. Even our elite are not free from it. Where is our thinkers or artist who is pleased at the success of his rival or clolleague? As for working for the food of all, that is not to be dreamed of. Why must you always wait for the Government to help you? However, U`ll see to it that you get some food and mateal to construct new huts." All the officials climbed into their cars and returned to the Minister`s house, where a banquet had been arranged for the evening. What was amazing not that we had a sumptuous meal, over which no one spoke of the plight of the victims of the flood, but that none of those who suffered rebelled. They just took their lot for granted. One day in the most distant furture the Indian under-dogs will revolt. There are signs thatthey are beginning to be conscious that something is readically wrong somewhere. Some years ago there were floods in a certain state in India. Many poor people lost their houses, belongings, and, what was worse for them, their only cow or goat. This scene can make anyone ashamed of certain things in India. There in front stood fifty or sixty homeless people, all huddled together on a dry piece of land, their clothes wet and their teeth chattering. They were cold and hungry, with utter despair in their eyes. Seeing officials before them, they rose to their feet, waded through the slush, and approached them withhands folded in respect. They took a minor military officer to be the Minister, for he was in rsplendent uniform, while the real Minister, wearing dhoti and sandals, looked like any other ordinary Indian. Indian profiteers, who merely accumulate wealth irrespective of social consequesces, will one day end up like our friend the medieval bishop. They are frantically digging their own graves. The folly and cupidity of some of Indians are staggering. During the much-talked-of Bengal famine, when horror piled upon horror, and children could be seen in the streets with emaciated faces and bloated bellies, oftern picking up bits of food from the rubbish heaps or dustbins, grain lay in huge quantities in godowns and could be had at a price. The whole thing was blamed on to the British, but not a word was said about our own dear delightful bakckmarketeers. And then to make the sombre picture still more ghastly, at that difficult time the big hotels in Mumbai, Bengal. Delhi gave for one meal encough food to satisfy the hunger of four ment. India has a peculiar set up. Each Indian likes to play lone wolf, hoping to keep all the profits to himself, he refuses to work with others, even when he realizes that by so doing he could turn a losing proposition into a paying one. He believes in all for himself or nothing. This is the basic reason why parnerships in India are never a success. Because of such mentality the concept of a joint-stock company did not germinate in India economic thinking. Even today it has not fully taken root. Indian workers are no less self-centered that our other classes. They live and toil for the day. Excellent craftsmen many of them are, but they do not believe in producing anything with sustained offort, nor do they maintain the same standard which might procure for them steady orders. Indians are thus their own destroyers, because they work entirely for personal, immediate interessts; their prosperity is not uniform, and they don`t look to the future or to the future of their trade. If Indian merchants and industrialists realized the value of co-operation they would make more money and with greater safety. In this way they would not only enrich themselves but also others, which would a reassurance of their own prosperity. As they have failed to appreciate this, their wealth does not stand on secure foundations. [Next will continue as no. 110] Kind Regards! TheSunderkt

sunderblogger.blogpost.130114b

SEXUAL EXPLOITATION OF INDIAN WOMEN, MEN AND TRANSGENDER PEOPLE WITHIN INDIA, BOTH ADULTS AND CHILDREN, IS WIDESPREAD Sexual exploitation of Indian women, men, transgender people and children within India, is widespread.12 Commercial sexual exploitation takes place in specific established areas but is also now much more dispersed into rural areas, transport hubs, roadside restaurants and houses in suburban areas, extensively using cell phones, making it harder to locate and tackle. Foreign women, largely from Nepal and Bangladesh, have been identified in situations of commercial sexual exploitation.13 In 2011, the ILO Committee of Experts “noted the Government [of India’s] indication in its 2008 Report that since the enactment of the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976 (BLSA), 287,555 bonded labourers had been identified, of whom 267,593 had been rehabilitated.”14 However, the ILO Committee of Experts also noted that “findings from research studies showed that bonded labour in agriculture and in industries like mining, brick kilns, silk and cotton production, and bidi making was likely to be affecting millions of workers across the country.”15 The ILO Committee of Experts has urged India to undertake national bonded labour surveys. Also, the identification and rehabilitation noted by the ILO Experts happened a long time ago, and in many Indian States local officials are not currently encouraged or supported to find bonded labourers.16 The 2012 UNODC Global Report on Trafficking in Persons noted a global dimension to trafficking flows originating in South Asia.17 Indian nationals who have migrated for work have found themselves in modern slavery – often involving recruitment intermediaries and debt bondage – around the world. They have been exploited in various industries including construction, mining, agriculture and hospitality, in manual labour and commercial sexual exploitation, as well as in private domestic work and as domestic staff at Indian diplomatic missions abroad. MANY OF INDIA’S ENSLAVED HAVE NOT BEEN MOVED FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER – THEY ARE ENSLAVED IN THEIR OWN VILLAGES Reports consistently note that India’s most significant challenge is the high number of Indian citizens in various forms of modern slavery within India’s borders. For example, the 2013 US TIP Report that suggests ninety per cent of trafficking in India is internal.7 Some of these results from internal migration, as migrants can originate from poor rural communities, lured to relatively wealthier cities by brokers on the false presence of employment. Internally trafficked men, women and children make up significant shares of the workforce in construction, textiles, brick making, mines, fish and prawn processing and hospitality.8 However it is important to note that many of India’s enslaved have not been moved from one place to another – they are enslaved in their own villages. Many are trapped in debt bondage to a local landowner or born into slavery because of caste, customary, social and hereditary obligations. Forced labor has been identified in factory work, agriculture, brick making, mining and quarrying, the textiles and garments industries, domestic work, and forced begging. Bonded labor, whether through debt or other forms of ‘bondage’ of workers, is rife in stone quarries, brick kilns, construction and mining.9 The difficulty for internal migrant workers in accessing protections and government entitlements, such as the food rations card, which is based on a worker’s residence, is thought to increase vulnerability to exploitation.10 Likewise for those enslaved in their own area, corruption or non-performance of safety nets (such as the National Employment Guarantee, food rations, primary health care and pensions) and practices of land grabbing and asset domination by high caste groups (or for commercial development) leaves people without protections. Some of those affected by slavery in India do not officially exist – they have no birth registration or ID so it can be hard for them to access protective entitlements. Kind Regards! Sunder T

What technology can do is to offer the priceless oppoutunity for less trained healthcare providers to perform more sophisticated functions. You will observe that The English instantly forger their party difference in the presence of an eternal danger. Not os in India. Today, for example, follow-travellers are playing the role of pettery kings; they hope to climb to power on Russian roubles and rifles. Poor deluded beings! After a brief capering on the stage, liquidation will be theri lot. they are brilliant, they think, but thier brilliance is so bright that it does not show them what is happening from the fate of fellow-travellers in the baltic countries- Poland Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hundgry, Roumania, and so on and so forth. But to come to the Vaishyas- our trading classes. their individualism is not rugged but raaged; they are shrewd, hard-working, intelligent, daring, but lacking in the co-operative spirit. India has learned one thing from British the exteranl of Eurpeanism: Indian kniw, atleast the sophiscticated amongst them, how to use knife and fork; how to do the latest dance; how to play bridge or rummy; hot to go to the races or to cocktail prties, but their inwardness-that which is called their nationa spirit and which makes them what they are- escapes to Indians altogether. The British are strong because fundamentally they are one. What is the difference between Mr. Harodl Wilson and Mr. Edward Heath? That of mere accent and emphasis; the larger goals to be achieved are the same. The Englishman, however much he hates another Englishman, will, rare exeptions apart, always give him preference over a foreighner. In India it is just the opposite. The Kshtriya selfishness sowed the seeds of its own doom. An exeptional individual who had amition or a grievance and had a follwoing at once set out to carve out for himself a kingdom. At times he invited foreigners, even enemies of the country, to help him to estabish a principality or to outst a rival. Very oftern the friend remained to rule, even his host. The "chalega ie. anything goes" is the curse of India; it is the mortal enemy of efficiency, tneterprise, pride in one`s handiwork. It is putting the seal of approval on ineptitude. The Kshatriyas, builders of political power in India, tried tomonopolize the chief arm of the state- the army. They were so zealous of the privilage that they did not allow others to join their ranks. The result of the pernicious attitude was that the clannish armies were neither strong enough nor numerous enough nor united enought to withstand a determined invader. Their loyalties were not to the country but to some given individuals. We can now understand why, in so mnay Indian wars, the army fled when the leader was killded or taken prisoner. Thus, in our social set-up, the concept of a citizen army could not take root. It is one of the greatest contributions of British rule in India that we have now armed forces that owe allegiance not to this or that person but solely to the state. Kind Regards! Sunder T

The English surf suffered for about eight undred years from 1066 to 1833; his brother in India has groaned for thousand of years and still continues to groan. The point is, such has been the pressure of metaphysical scoundrelism that the victims have always accepted their lot as a devine dispensation. India`s social organization was veritabel nest of hornets. It stung everybody without benefiting itself in any way. The Braminis thought that by keeping all others in ignorance, in matters spritual and intellectual, they would be the sole beneficiaries of the rights and perquisities conferred by society. While, for a period, they did enjoy these benefits, they have in the long run proved to be their own and India`s worst enemies. the fact that the vast masses deliberately kept without light soon darkened their own minds. There was no stimulus to keep up to the mark or to take a leap forward. The noton of "chalega or it will do" crept in and rotted everything. Kind Regards! Sunder T

In India how is it that a people who have developed great intellectual and spiritual powers, as also aestetic sensibilities, have become victims of self-hypnosis? It is a low of all conquest that conqueror tries to grab all possible advantages to himself and his followers. This may be called the spoil system. It has flourished at all times. India`s day is by no means free from it. Aryab invaders of India, despite their beautiful invocations to the verious deities, were throughly earth-bound, and took whatever they could lay ther hands on. But they did one thing which no conqueror in the history of the world has ever done or thought of doing; they codified, philosophized and spiritualized their villianies. Kind Regards! Sunder T

The new prime minister could reduce reservation in education and jobs by 1-2 % every year, which will help banish casteism from our society by 2030. It is time for India to have such a transformational prime minister –one who will modernize India`s cities, solve agriculture and water woes, break the shackles of casteism, bring about manufacturing revolution and improve government efficiency. subject: Corruption vs inefficiency In India, more than corruption, it`s gross inefficiency that is the biggest problem. Corruption is only part of the cause of our failures on all these and other fronts. the other,if not major, reason for Indian being unable to get things done is our genius for bungling, for getting things wrong instead of getting them right. India has a lesson to learn from China and Thailand; be corrupt if your must, but with it be efficient; take the money, but deliver the goods. India`s biggest bane is not corruption, it is not that people in power steal money; it is that those who steal our money seem incabable of accormlishing anything- from building a user friendly highway to eliminating poverty through subsidies and other schemes. Arvind Kejriwal`s AAP has risen like a desi avatar of St George to battle the dragan of corruption. But it might have an even bigger ogre to combat in the form of system ineptitude which just can`t make things work. That`s the real job cut out for AAP. Sunderblogger.201 Lokpal bill has kindled hopes of curbing graft, but more needs to be done to banish the menace of Corruption. Nothing emboldens the corrupt more than the belief that there will be negligible or no consequences for their corrupt behavior. The Lokpal will, hopefully, contribute in some measures to create the nexus between crime and punishment. The following steps are necessary. (1) Reform of funding and financial accountability of political parties. (2) A systematic increase in the neutral intervention of technology into as many as possible where the common man has to deal with government. (3) Finalization of model legal framework ensuring transparency and fair play in all transactions relating to the disposal and acquisition of national resources and government procurement processes. (4) Instituting deterrent action in a time bound and exemplary manner for all acts of corruption, which in turn, presupposes substantive judicial reforms. The seed of corruption is the link between Politian’s and political parties and unaccounted money. Anna Hazare has taught us that public pressure is a potent weapon in compelling reform. The onus to put that pressure lies on the people of India. Kind Regards! Sunder T

Sunderblogger.199 Sunderblogger.199 We as human beings have power - not just to cause harm and create terror but to help ourselves of this seemingly hopeless scenario of doom and gloom. It might seem contradictory that people are empowered and empower others, merely by being kind and compassionate and not because they are overbearing, manipulative and unkind and force their view on others. Sunderblogger.198 India is a funny place for business. Nitin Gadkary has proved it. Which other country can claim such a distinction, which showcases Not only multitasking abilities but also socio-economic equality? Can Barack Obama`s chauffer take on the job of a company director even while continuing to drive the US president around? Can Mitt Romey`s driver do both such jobs at the same time? Nope, It`s only in India where such inspiring success stories are possible Drivers, peons, munims(Accountants), astrologers, who are part of the Gadkari network of companies have all shown a commendable flair for business affairs and have been suitably rewarded with high corporate office. Moreover, the BJB leader is not the only one under whose benevolent disposition such enterprise has been encouraged to thrive. Similar success stories abound right across India`s political spectrum. The reason for his is simple. Unlike elsewhere, in India the danda (stick) of the law is accommodative of `h`s, as in `hera-pheri`(cheating). This small inclusion changes the danda (stick) of the law into the business of dhandha (business) as usual Kind Regards Sunder Thadani

Sunderblogger.195 Life is all about connections. Our mental, emotional, physical and psychic selves only establish connections, be it with nature, people of things. We don`t know how to relate to them. We do not build relationships. When we connect with consciousness and awareness with what is around us, only then do we actually relate to them. Bu we do relate to something and that is our selfish nature. Any action based on the selfish motive will not endure long. Kind Regards Sunder Thadani

Sunderblogger.194 When the vision of oneness, a higher vision, is absent it creates divisions in the family, company, community, nation and the world. Self-importance is the cause for divisions at any level. In a family there are conflicts, in a company there is manipulation, in a community there is fanaticism, in a country each state wants its own independence and internationally there are wars. This is all because of the absence of vision of oneness- one harmonious family, one strong nation, and one peaceful global family. Sunder Thadani

Sunderblogger.193 Stress is a disease of the 21st century. Everyone seems to be in stress from a child to a retiree. What disturbs the mind? You believe a bad boss, nagging spouse or the weather causes you grief. The truth is that nothing in the world can disturb you except yourself. Stress is defined as mental turbulence caused by unfulfilled desire. As long as a desire remains unactualised you will be in stress. Yet desire is being recklessly fuelled and people are n stress. When you rise above desire and work for something beyond, the object of desire comes to you. Then you can enjoy it thoroughly with a calm mind. So what is the way out? The first step is to manage desire with intellect. If the intellect approves, go ahead and fulfill the desire without fear or guilt. But if the intellect vetoes it, keep away. This gives relief. The next step is desire reduction by upgrading desires. Pick up a higher desire. The lower one drops. Finally, when the lure of the Infinite grips you all desires vanish. You are in Bliss. Sunderblogger.189 our attitude towards other in our workday life reflects like this “Day after day countless creatures are going to the above of heaven yet those that remain behind believe themselves to be immortal”. We believe that what happens to others will not happen to us. We apply different stands to evaluate our own behavior and that of others in all fields of activity. The `other`, across cultures, has been seen variously as a friend- an extension of oneself- or as a foe posing a threat to one`s freedom. The other has been seen by some as deserving our concern or respect, by some as an opportunity for solidarity or mutual transformation, and by some typically as an unwelcome practical, political or cultural limitation. The other can be the ethnic, other, the cultural other, the religious other, the national other or simply the other gender. Kind Regards Sunder Thadani

Sunderblogger.185 Seriousness is a disease, but seriousness has been praised, respected, honored. It was absolutely essential to be serious to be saint; hence only people who were incapable of laughter become interested in religion. And people who are incapable of laughter are not human yet- what to say about their being divine? That is impossible- they have not yet become human. Hence I have tremendous respect for the sense of humor; for laughter. Laughter is far more sacred that prayer, because prayer can be done by any one, It does not require much intelligence, Laughter requires intelligence. It requires presence of mind, a quickness of seeing into things. A joke cannot be explained; either you understand it or you miss it. If it is explained it loses the whole point; hence no joke can be explained. You get it immediately or you can try to find out the meaning of it; you will find out the meaning, but the joke will not be there. It was in the immediacy. Regards Sunder Thadani

Calibri (Body)Sunderblogger.184 To attain wisdom, we must purify the mind by making It free of all impure thoughts. First empty your mind; only then you can make room for wisdom to come in. Prepare the mind to face situations in a way that enables you to harness its potential. Living with a mind that is narcissist will impede progress. A life that is full of ego leaves no room for receptivity as one thinks about nothing else other than its own self. In order to receptive to truth, one must make the effort to be ready to recognize and receive the truth. Human beings have become conditional entities on account of habit. It is this conditioning that is a major obstacle on the path. To be able to overcome this hurdle, we must be ready to revisit existing ideas; be willing to rise above all kinds of biases and prejudices and become receptive to truth that may come from anywhere. Sunderblogger.183 Religion has been missing one very fundamental quality; the sense of humour; It`s unfortunate, because it has made religion sick. A sense of humor is an essential part of the wholeness of man. It keeps him healthy, young and fresh. And for centuries the sad people have dominated religion. They have expelled laughter- from churches, mosques and from temples. The day laughter enters back into the holy places they will be really holy, because they will be whole. Laughter is the only quality that distinguishes man from other animals. Only man can see the ridiculous, the absurd. Only he has the capacity and the consciousness to be aware of the cosmic joke; it is not a serious affair. [will continue in next]. Best Wishes! Sunder Thadani

Sunderblogger.181 in India, only one-third population lives in towns and cities. In Bihar in 2001 it was only 10%. India`s towns and cities desperately need fixing. Half of Mumbai lives in slumps, which is a natural disgrace. At the same time, we may have to think of building completely new cities and destroying older ones. That is a scary thought, but a time may come when it is better to destroy than to rehabilitate. Human habitation is not permanent, and India has several examples of urban settlements that were abandoned. We need to look long and hard at the future of urban policy and contemplate the best and the worst. Best Wishes! Sunder Thadani

Sunderblogger.175 Sub: Think India. India thrives on contradictions like no place else; any visitor, tourist, or business representative can expect the unexpected. Relying on a trusted Indian friend to act as buffer and to protect one from culture shock is helpful in this sometimes highly confusing country. At your hotel, they may not serve beef because of the reverence Hindus hold for the cow. Yet you may hear the conversation of Hindu man from Kerala seated at a nearby table telling his wife on a cell phone that he will return home tomorrow and would prefer a beefsteak for dinner. In a temple, where you might expect more familiar rules and behavior, you could be truly shocked to witness a sadhu (a holy man who customarily wears orange) amble in nonchalantly completely nude. Sunderbloger.166 Work on Bringing Balance to your life. Work-life balance is one the most misunderstood concept in our pressure-laden times. Balance means finding that optimum point where the person working in a perfect condition, in perfect harmony with his environment. Balance does not mean giving equal priority to everything. Often, people working wrongly believe that a work-life balance means dividing their time equally between work and family. Its fallacy is evident in the dissatisfaction people feel despite efforts at that `misunderstood` balance. The answer to work-life balance is not in balancing one`s work with one`s family, for that simply means more work; it means balancing one`s work with one`s life. Your life includes you, your health, spiritual evolution, mental vigor, attitude and tenacity social presence, friends AND your family. This sudden expansion in your life can be a shock and lead you to spin on all these factors. Let me tell you a secret; you don`t have to work at the balance, the balance work at you. Sunderblogger.165 India`s soil, climate and vegetation have played their part in molding Indian. As there is a lot of nonsense talked on this subject, let me linger over it a little. Every country affects its dwellers in a particular way. A psychologist has observed that a monkey sent to Germany for scientific observation begin to brood and behave like a Teuton, while the same monkey dispatched to the United States reacts like a restless American, always on the go. Whatever comes and lives in India, undergoes a subtle change of psyche. Is value altering. The boundaries of good and evil, so clear before, now begin to melt a move. He floats in a void. Sunderblogger.164 Destroy those envying roots and enjoy lasting peace. Just be aware when the feeling of jealousy arises, and you will be surprise, it simply disappears. Jealousy cannot be overcome either by escaping from it or hating the object of jealousy. Understand the way out of jealousy is not be surprising it or denying its existence. Expressing and encouraging it is also not the way because then you are not ready to face he jealousy with awareness. Just watch how jealousy arise in you, how it develops into hatred for the object of jealousy, how it creates restlessness and frustration inside you and make you lose all of your peace and calm. Do not condemn the object of jealousy. The object has not generated the emotions from outside. The jealousy is happening inside you. The fire of jealousy can just consume you completely if you don’t control it with the fire extinguisher of you awareness. Once you witness your jealousy with awareness, you will realize that it does not have a basis for existence at all. When this happens, jealously will drop automatically. You won`t have to drop it. Sunderblogger.162 Aryanism, of which we have become particularly proud since independence, is, we examine matters without priories, integumentary. The essence lies elsewhere. The Indian spirit is basically pre_Aryan. The Dravidian element in it is predominant (as we see today,) but the total influences go further back. We have heard the phrase “Mother India”; India is much more than; she is the Granny of Nations. Her soul (there’s, I repeat, no “it” about it) is steeped in the leadings and misleading of many civilizations. Whatever races came to India- they were attracted to her like moths to a flame- had one peculiarity: they refused to be integrated. Despite the terrific pressure of the anonymous multitudes around them, they remained undigested chunks. Hence the Indian paradox: one Indian reacts like Scythian, another like a Sumerian, a third like a Greek, a fourth like an Arab, and so the complicated tale continues. Best Wishes Sunder Thadani

Sunderblogger.161 Life Lesson #1 – Let it go. Anger is never just anger. Anger is a cover up for fear, hurt, or disappointment. I can’t tell you the number of days I stressed myself out in my 20’s because I was angry at another person and did not want to forgive them. I literally made myself sick over it. The ironic thing about anger is that the joke is on the angry person. When you're angry, it hurts you more because you have to spend your precious time and energy holding on to negative energy. Sadly, that negative energy often blocks the positive energy from coming into your life. So let it go so that you can let that positive light in. Appreciate the person that you're angry with and learn to live with them the way they are. If someone is constantly upsetting you, appreciate the fact that you are strong enough to disassociate yourself from them. You don't need to stick around! Life Lesson #2 – It’s really not about you. When loved ones, co-workers, or even strangers say and do hurtful things, many times it is really not about you. People in this world have some serious issues. And, because they don’t deal with their issues, they project those issues onto you. The mother who thinks she is the worst mom will project and tell another mom how bad their kid is. The teen who thinks she is ugly will project and make fun of another teen. The boss who can’t manage his team will try to micromanage your work. So the next time someone does something hurtful to you, remember two things, they act like that towards other people as well, and it’s not about you!! Life Lesson #3 – Others have gone through the same problems that you have today. This is one I am still working on because I am a pretty private person. But I have to believe that when you go through things, one of the main reasons is to help others at one point and time through the same obstacle. The problem is that everyone wants to put on the mask that their life is grand, secretly hiding away any perfections. If no one knows your true journey, they can’t seek you out for help. It’s not an easy thing to do; it’s not like your Uncle Joe shouts out to everyone ‘Hey Everyone, I’m in foreclosure, now let’s eat.’ BUT, if he did, he would attract others that have been through the same experience, and could change a life for the better. Life Lesson #4 – Enjoy it now. As I look back at my last 29 years of life, there were so many special moments that came and went. I wish I would have sat back and enjoyed the moments more. Absorb the good times because they are the first things you forget. Life Lesson #5 – Power of Persistence There is something about the power of daily focused effort that seems to be a common theme in successful people. It’s the difference between ball players and NBA players, the difference between a Life Lesson #6 – I get it now when people talk about having passion as a requirement for excellence. If you want to excel as a fashion designer, working towards that goal should generally win over other distractions. When presented with the opportunity to watch TV or hang out with friends instead of working to, if you constantly choose those distractions over working on fashion, you must consider that fashion is not your passion. I am not saying that you can't relax, but I'm saying that before you choose a life goal or a 'passion', be sure it's something that you, in your heart, really enjoy and love doing. Life Lesson #7 – Relationships can be your greatest teacher. I feel that everyone should do a lessons learned exercise after each relationship AND after every couple of years in a marriage. Each relationship is a reflection of you (whether good or bad). Subconsciously it’s a reflection of our deepest insecurities and needs. And if you really take the time to reflect the good or bad times, it is a window into your soul. Taking the time to review your past will be time well spent. Life Lesson #8– Don’t sleep on the power of the internet there are thousands upon thousands of people making a good amount of money online. The BEST thing about online business is that is has no face. So you can no longer say you’re being judged by your race, background, lack of a degree, etc. The internet levels the playing field. Quality content speaks louder than your religion, skin color, etc. Start looking into the power of it today. Life Lesson #9 – Don’t be a “put off’ person. I spent many years putting off things because I was waiting for the situation to get better or for 'something' to happen first. News Flash – I bet you can think of a hundred reasons to keep living how you are today and not changing; SOMETHING will always be in the way or be a reason to delay. Don’t put off your happiness. If you can do something that makes you happy today, without ruining the lives of others then do it. Best Wishes! Sunder Thadani

Everyone has their favorite, outrageous story about an encounter with the bureaucracy. The inefficiency, corruption, insensitivity, stupidity and Kafkaesque circularity of bureaucratic procedures and rules are legendary. That India`s bureaucracy is one the most stifling and difficult to deal with has now been revealed in a survey. Over a thousand expatriate business executive rated India`s bureaucracy the most annoying in Asia. The problem with India is no, as we in the middle class imagine, that we have too many idle and corrupt bureaucrats. The problem is that we have too many rules and regulations and too few officials to implement and monitor the regimes, and bring to book those who flout the rules and regulations. As India`s population grows, the disequilibrium is only going to grow: more rules and regulations to be applied to more and more people by a bureaucracy that is not high enough. A conclusion: either we expand the bureaucracy or else the government will gradually wither away to the point that India will join the ranks of failed states. That would be a calamity for the Indian people. Best wishes! Sunder Thadani.

A conclusion: either we expand the bureaucracy or else the government will gradually wither away to the point that India will join the ranks of failed states. That would be a calamity for the Indian people. Best wishes! Sunder Thadani

Sundedrblogger.154 Change Attitude, Not Lifestyle In life, everyone is denied a few things. But all of us have been blessed with millions of gifts. If you focus on what you do not have, you will be unhappy, if you choose to focus on the things you have, you are grateful and you develop an irresistible share, contribute, and give. This makes you happy. The most precious things come for free, which you do not even consider! Hence, you live life feeling deprived and deficient when, in fact, you could be totally fulfilled and abundant. Do you have conflict with the people you love most? Do you blame the 1other person for it? May be it has to do with your attitude. Do you have expectations of you family members? Do you make demands on your spouse and children? This is not love. It is attachment. Love tainted with selfishness is attachment. You only love yourself. You claim to love because they happen to cater to you in some way. This causes conflict and untold suffering. In the end you support them. Attachment is the single most important cause for breakdown in relationships. So change you attitude, not lifestyle. Your life will change from drudgery to revelry. From mediocrity to Excellence. Best Wishes! Sunder Thadani

Sunderblogger.152 I have a very simple definition of integrity: I saw a romantic greeting card which showed a couple kissing in the front seat of a car. The message said, ‘If you can kiss while driving safely, you are not giving the kiss the attention it deserves.’ Anything that is worth doing is worth doing with a whole heart, mind and body. We get into the trouble not because we do things that are wrong, but because we approach our activities with divided intentions. Our body is doing one thing while our heart is elsewhere. We go to jobs wet rather not be at, we sleep with people we don’t love, we go to parties we secretly find boring or repulsive. At the same time we love people we don’t express our love for, we deny ourselves food we would really enjoy, and we know truths we do not act on. You are doing on the outside matches who you are on the inside. I respect people who do things I don’t agree with, or wouldn’t do myself, but I respect them for being 100 percent who they are. They are in integrity. Regards, Sunder.thadani

Sunderblogger.153 Indians, by and large, have an aversion to anything dark. Whether it`s sugar, flour or skin complexion, dark is out and white is in, the whiter the better. The exception to this color is coded scheme of things is money. Indians or, at least some Indians have a distinct preference for so-called “black” money over” white” money. Sunderblogger.151 it is well said, “Politics is to be left only to politicians”. India has been like a house owned by a householder who leaves the day-to-day running of the house –keeping the place clean, buy provisions for the kitchen, maintaining a daily account – to the servants. Left unregulated-except for a check on their activities every five years-the servants inevitably come to feel that the house belongs to them and not to the householder. As times goes by they become increasingly lazy and corrupt with no money to pay for the upkeep. The householder blames the servants for having cheated and defrauded her. She concludes that all servants are cheats who are not to be trusted. But the householder forgets that it was only because she abdicated her own responsibility for adequately supervising the servants that they could behave the way they did, bringing the house to the sorry state it is in. The Indian public is like that over-trustful householder who has let her house be run, with virtually no monitoring, by politicians who, feeling that there is no one to hold them to account for their actions, have done exactly as they pleased, holding to ransom the house that call India. Sunderblogger.150 Is there such a creature as an Indian? There may be, but I have not found it. An Indian pure and simple is rare as a griffin or an Assyrian bull. How should it be otherwise? The Indian is not a person, but a patchwork. Indeed, he reminds me of Ibsen`s famous one layer, then another, then another, and finally, nothing. I am the peeling of the various layers that causes much trouble. Each layer tells its own tale and, what is unbelievable, is not part of an organic whole. The result is that the so-called Indian is the most contradictory of persons. He is perpetually at war with himself. Not knowing himself, he is unable to understand others. Our metaphysics, wonderful as they are, have tried to solve this confusion, but in vain. Our multilayered soul remains hidden and unfathomable. But why are we what we are? Aryanism, of which we have become particularly proud since independence, is, if we examine matters without partipris, integumentary. The essence lies elsewhere. The Indian spirit is basically pre-Aryan. The Dravidian element in it is predominant, (as we see t0-day,) but the total influences go further back. We have heard the phrase “Mother India”; India is much more than that; she is the Granny of Nations. Her soul (there is, I repeat, no “it” about it) is steeped in the leadings and misleading of many civilizations. best wishes, Sunder Thadani.

Sunderblogger.149 Anna Hazare, the man who bought Gandhigiri back in vogue, has stirred up quite a revolution. From the aam admi to students, the Bollywood starts to the media- everybody is agreeing that they might not agree with everything Hazare might have to say, but boy will they defend his right to say it! 74 year-old has carried out a rather tech-savvy campaign predominantly through social networking websites and sms. But shortly before his highly controversial arrest, the man-of the-hour posted a pre-recorded message on YouTube, where he said “The second freedom struggle has started…This is a fight for change. The protests should not stop. The time has come for no jail in the country to have a free space” Best Wishes for Anna Hazare Sunder Thadani

Sunderblogger.148 10 Quick Strategies to Help Manage Your Anger When someone cuts you off on the freeway, do you give in to your rage? Do you burst out in anger when your child misbehaves? Anger is a very natural emotion. However, learning to deal with your anger in a positive manner is important, both for your well-being and that of others who are near and dear to you. When you cannot control your temper, you and everyone around you suffer the consequences. If you struggle with anger management, the good news is: it doesn't have to be this way! You don't have to fall victim to an uncontrollable temper. There are anger management techniques that will help you change the way you express this emotion. These strategies can help you manage your anger in positive ways: 1. Give yourself a time out. Counting to ten before you speak or act gives you a chance to think first. Take a deep breath or two while you count to ten; this action helps relax your tense muscles and sends a burst of oxygen to your brain for clarity of thought. Removing yourself altogether from the situation gives you more time to calm down and further reduces the risk of an angry outburst. You can return once you're able to discuss the issue peacefully. 2. Take some personal space. When the very presence of a specific person makes your blood boil, stay away from them until your frustration dies down. Use the opportunity away from them to work through your feelings and seek a positive solution to your challenge with them. 3. After you're calm, express yourself. It's healthy to express your feelings, even feelings of anger, as long as you do it in a peaceful, positive, and non-confrontational way. Discussing your feelings with the person who upsets you often helps both of you understand each other better so you can work out your issues. Stewing about what is bothering you can make the whole situation worse. 4. Exercise. Strenuous physical activity is an incredible way to release your anger, especially if you feel you're at the breaking point. Exercising also releases endorphins, the "feel good" hormones, which will help you feel more at peace. A۬ Lifting weights, running, and playing sports are great ways to blow off some steam. 5. Think it through before you tackle the issue. When you're angry, you're more likely to say something hurtful that you don't really mean. Write down what you want to say so you can work through the issue at hand; when your temper is flaring, it's easy to get sidetracked. 6. Find a win-win solution. Instead of focusing on what someone did to make you angry, work with him or her to resolve the issue. Finding a solution that you both agree on will allow you to feel satisfied. 7. Use personal statements when discussing the issue. Avoid criticizing or placing blame. Use statements like, "It makes me feel angry and upset when you don't help me with the housework," instead of "You never help me," which could make that person angry or resentful in return. 8. Avoid holding a grudge. Maintaining resentment toward someone only hurts you. Let it go, put it in the past, and move forward with your life. It's unreasonable to expect everyone to act the way you want them to. Rather than letting someone continue to irritate you with their mannerisms, find a way to accept or look past them. 9. Use humor. Lighten up the situation by saying or doing something genuinely funny. Once you both have a good laugh, it's easier to find a resolution together. When being humorous, avoid sarcasm as it can hurt and make things worse. 10. Practice relaxation techniques. Skills like deep breathing and picturing a relaxing scene can help defuse your temper when you feel it start to boil. Listening to music and practicing Yoga are also great stress relievers. If you feel that your anger is still out of control after using these strategies, you may benefit from some extra help, such as: Reading further books on anger management. Seeing a licensed therapist or counselor. Attending anger management classes or support groups where others discuss ways to cope with their anger. No matter how severe your anger may be, these tips and techniques can help you control your temper, rather than letting it control you. Free yourself from anger and find greater joy in your life today!

Sunderblogger.147 Change election rules to keep criminals out of politics. With corruption rolling the Parliament and public life, the present ruling government can send a message about the seriousness of its intent to cleanse politics by swiftly passing into law proposed amendment to the Representation of the Peoples Act, 1951. With the objective of debarring criminals from entering politics, the amendments would disqualify any candidate with serious criminal charges-terrorism, murder, sexual assault, kidnapping etc.-from contesting elections. The law can be further improved by adding big-ticket corruption to the list of serious crimes. Best Wishes! Sunder Thadani

Sunderblogger.146 every profession has its occupational hazards. Sportsmen who make their living room rackets tend to develop tennis elbows. Those who mop and sweep one apartment after the other are prone to housemaid`s knee. Garbage collectors are not used to looking up while astronomers lose focus on anything below sky-level. And newspaper journalists keep getting asked when they are going to write books even though much of what they scribble has shelf life of 24 hours. Kind Regards! Sunder T

Sunderblogger.145 An aware mind is one that knows that a problem or issue exists but does nothing about it. It is easy to be lazy. Laziness requires no efforts. To be active requires effort. Let us take a look at mind control. Tempestuous thoughts arise daily in an agitated mind. There could be virtuous thoughts but they might get buried, when the mind is stressed. Even if these were to manifest outwardly, by their sheer nature they would bring benefit to us or those around us. However, we need to be extra cautious of the arising of non-virtuous ones. Sunderblogger.144 we are never without an identity. In the system in which we are living, there are set patterns of life. Due to our ignorance we create frames. A framed life is never happy, never satisfied because we really belong to the frameless source. If our life belongs to the frameless source, how can you define it in a frame? Can you capture the whole of the ocean in a cup? Our ideal identity is no identity-to become zero, to live with a zero identity. We worship those who have attained this state. Either acquire a zero identity or become everything. Never identify yourself with one thing at all. Either identity with nothing or identity with everything never be in-between. That is the faith you should have in yourself. First has faith in yourself, with whatever identity you are living, had full faith in that. If you have no faith in yourself, faith in the Divine alone will not work. Best Wishes! Sunder Thadani.

Sunderblogger.143 we are never without an identity. In the system we are living there are set patterns of life. Doctor, master genius, this, that …. You are choosing your identity, so good, choose any identity, have full faith in that. If you feel like you are an artist then be an artist then be an artist, never doubt your identity. Ninety percent of people have identity but no faith in their identity, and they confuse themselves and have a miserable life. We should have courage to break the system and discover a new identity in which we have faith. Then you can create better possibilities for life. Everything is in your hands; you have to decide what you want. First of all understand your life, value it and then make your life useful, purposeful. If the definition of your life is limited your life will always be limited, if your definition of life is vaster, without boundaries or frames then you can live without limit. Every day, write you definition of life and in a few days that will give you a complete picture of you, you can check your frame-or whether your picture is frameless. Best Wishes! Sunder Thadani

Sunderblogger.142 Knowledge comes from the past. It has to be translated currently into action. Thoughts and ideas must be transformed into deeds. Your motto in life should be to strive, to struggle, not to succeed. Work well accomplished, is the joy of life. Success or failure is immaterial. What really matters is your ability to adopt action to obligation. Your business lies in action alone, not in the reward accruing from it. Don’t let your anxiety to enjoy the fruit disturb the course of your action. Work without attachment and craving in worship. That is the principle of renunciation. Why do you need motives for work? Work itself is most rewarding, entertaining and blissful. Employ this simple principle of work in practical life. The wide world becomes one divine chant. When you thus begin to work in a spirit of renunciation, the world returns your courtesy. Wealth and prosperity are at your door. The world will go on. Nevertheless, you must perform you your work. You ought to take to work as a prince takes to sport-not as drudgery or burden. Your life is one big game, full of fun and frolic. The most laborious undertaking pursued in the right spirit is found to be all play; intense work undertaken thus is no work at all. That should be your attitude to work. Best Wishes! Sunder Thadani

Sunderblogger.141 Are you in conflict with the people you love most? Do you experience incredible highs followed by invariable lows in your relationships? Have the days of wine in and roses become days of wine and neuroses? Love tainted with selfishness is `attachment`; it is only about you. You expect a return for your affection, tangible or intangible. You feel insecure, vulnerable and threatened. Your expectations never seem to be met with. The more people do for you, the more you want. The relationship thus becomes conflict-ridden. In the end, it breaks down and you lose the person. Expand you mind. Get attached to a wider circle of people-community, nation, and humanity. Work for local civil society, for the welfare of the world. As you get attached to the higher you get detached from the lower. True love is born and your relationships become free from the endless strife that prevails now. In order to fill the haunting sense of emptiness in your life you depend on people for your happiness. Thus the starting point is faulty. Only when you are happy within can you establish meaningful relationships with others. It is absurd to depend on others to fill the void. You do not need anyone to make you happy. Gain knowledge of your fulfilled state. Love others for what they are, the good as well as the bad. Understand that people behave according to their nature. Look at others as part of yourself and you will focus on their best qualities. You will see opponents as partners, competitors as comrades. You will celebrate others` victory as if it were your own. Blog4u.140 Death is powerless before the person who has depth of feeling for life. You must have come cross people who are not afraid of death, and they are from different walks of life. They include those in public life [like Gandhi, Anna Hazare], householders and also convicted criminals. They seem to be ready for the ultimate act without feeling any remorse. But can we say that death is powerless before them and that they have depth in them as evidence of this? Perhaps not. Perhaps they are being seen as the strongest of people who have depth of knowledge that enables them to encounter death without fear. The nearest that you can get to death is to be with the dying and experience the trauma or otherwise, so as to feel the experience as best as possible, without actually dying- and this might help increase your depth of knowledge of death. Once you understand death and are ready that you feel life to the fullest which in itself increases your depth of life. Only when you feel death can you feel life, which opens the sublime qualities of intelligence, fearlessness, wisdom, love, happiness, joy, creativity, expression, truthfulness and life itself. Sunderblogger.139 it is said that if a man speaks truth uninterruptedly for 12 years, whatever he speaks thereafter will come true. The saying, at once, reveals the power of truth as also the difficulty of remaining conscious of truth consistently for any length of time. Theoretically speaking, truth should be a simple task as the most natural thing to do. Truth about oneself is always self-evident. Our thoughts and feelings, fears and aspirations, likes and dislikes are known to us and yet, we hardly express ourselves fully and truthfully. Instead, we battle with our conscience, concoct stories and manipulate our expressions to camouflages our thoughts and true feelings. We choose the hard option drive by all sorts of fears; fear of being found out, of rejection, of losing honor, status and image. As long as the veneer lasts I is fine but the foundation underneath remains ever brittle and shaky. Truth is immortal. A shadow of lie can temporarily dim its illumination but only in passing. Lies, however, have a limited life and need to continuously breed and proliferate to keep up the presence of constancy. Truth is lie fresh water, cleansing the mind of sensory debris like desire, hatred, greed, jealousy, envy and animosity. Pursuing truth in thought and action, the mind attains a state of tranquility and starts mirroring the truth of people, objects, events and situations well beyond constraints of time and space. Sunderblogger.138 People feel lonely; they need somebody to fill their loneliness. They call it love. They show love because that is the only way to hook the other. The other also calls it love because that is the only way to hook you. But who knows whether there is love or not? Love is just a game. Real love is possible, but that happens only when you don`t need anybody. When you don`t need a person at all, when you are totally sufficient unto yourself, when you can be alone and tremendously happy and ecstatic, then then love is possible. But then too you can be certain about only one thing; whether your love is real. How can you be certain about the other? But then there is no need. Behind declarations of love there is nothing but need. You want your lover to be with you to fill you emptiness and so too is the case with her. You are both trying to use each other as a means. That`s why lovers, so-called lovers, are always in conflict-because nobody wants to be used, because when you use a person the person becomes a thing, you have reduced him to a commodity. Sunderblogger.137 More often than ever before, we face a rising tide of uncertainty about the future- about our personal lives and the purpose and meaning of our religious, political, financial, and social institutions. We become strikingly aware that life`s lessons are to be learnt on a daily basis. And one of the greatest teachers is uncertainty. Uncertainty invites us to slow down in order to understand, to see better, to live better. We so badly want things in life to be predictable; we want all our choices to be good one, But we also claim we long for transformation. Certainty and comfort are hardly conductive to transformation. The one certainty is that life is uncertain. We often live as though nothing will change, but it does. The continuous battle between wanting things to stay the same and finding that nothing stays the same creates tension in us. We chose to respond either with fear or helplessness, or with eager acceptance of what lies ahead. The fear we have moving forward, trying something new, and changing direction is often actually an unwillingness to handle uncertainty. The danger is in getting stuck in the `confusion` phase too long, by not seeing it for the opportunity it offers for spiritual growth. The gift that uncertainty offers is its ability to moves us on. Sunderblogger.136 to creatively handle innovation is a part of wise living. To know and not to act on what you know is equal to not knowing. On has to see this clearly that, “if you continue doing what you have done you will get what you have got” Hence, there is a need for innovation in all walks of life. Our weakness can become our strength. This is true innovation. One has to focus on innovation id different fields like organization, self, creation of wealth and wellness. All this should result in `end user-innovation` of being happy, being valued and feeling a sense of belonging. The organizational research and knowledge management wing should have methods to arrive an and check whether mission and vision statement have just become a jargons…that is, remaining as sheer intellectual concepts. If it is so, then the very purpose would be lost. Best Wishes! Sunder Thadani

Sunderblogger.135 Often nothing requires more courage than the admission of one`s fault. The disturbance that repentance evokes in our personal and collective psyches, which ruminating over a past wrong or misdeed is so upsetting that we tend to exhaust every other available choice before we own up. We dread the bald admission that we are in the wrong. We dread the bald admission that we are in the wrong. Not only individuals but also communities and nations face this dilemma. Human beings have a double nature; capable of great sacrifice and charity and at the same time capable of committing heinous acts. This is because of the instinct to do well and the instinct to do badly is intertwined with both positive and negative qualities. We tend to hurt others by our thoughtless and selfish inclinations. Others hurt us the same way. There are moments in our lives when we regret our actions and wish we had not done what we had. There would be hardly anyone who has not, at some time or other, grappled with feelings of guilt. Hence the need to be on guard always, is good. Best Wishes! Sunder T

Sunderblogger.134 we are moving along with the current of our desires, our own goals, aims and agendas. We are constantly thinking of negative things, having a sense of fear unnecessarily and constantly expecting the worst of by our negative state of being and they come and settle in us, making our mind a garbage bin. Many a time we feel that everybody is victimizing us for no fault of ours, making us feel very pathetic and ordinary. Instead, when we don`t unnecessarily assume and presume the above, we value and feel that life is precious, auspicious, esteemed and extraordinary. Meditation brings about this awareness to make our life extraordinary. Best Wishes! Sunder T
