Cashless India: DigiEdu4all; IDFC is turning rations shops into outlets for banking. IDFC is converting ration shops into banking outlets by recruiting Public Distribution System (PDS) agents as business correspondents. This private bank has seen an opportunity to convert distributors into partners, rather than customers. IDFC bank had recently rolled out IDFC Aadhaar Pay in association with the Unique Identification Authority of India. The service involves use of a point of sale device that has fingerprint scanner, which facilitates using Aadhaar. The customer does not need to swipe a debit card, remember passwords or own a cellphone. In addition, there are no transaction fees. In rural and semi-urban areas, where customers need `assisted digital` banking formats, IDFC Bank`s Aadhaar merchant solution is a perfect fit. The merchant benefits from the medium- as this a new AEPS payment railroad, it has no merchant discount rate attached to it and can provide the service to customers without having to pay the bank a transaction fee. Today, it is the mobile and its doors that it opened for everyone interested by mere twiddling the thumbs. Everyone can learn to navigate the world that the phone has given. and allowing the handset with lightning speed by teaching himself/herself ways to earn living too. Once certain minimum threshold of familiarity is crossed, the phone becomes an instrument of exploratory travel and discovery. The wonderful thing about a search engine like Google is that you need to know nothing in order to use it. To avila of it, all one needs is to confess one`s ignorance-one needs no qualifications or any prior knowledge or expertise in a subject to begin educating oneself on it. Sunder Thadani. 20170227

The idea of moving to a place that aligns with how you think or the way you want to live your life is not new but in this era of telecommunication and as companies spread wider across the globe. Most people who are considering relocating for political or ideological reasons are looking at more liberal or progressive nations like Iceland, Finland, Sweden, Norway and New Zealand. And the trend has been aided by technology. Technology has meant people are not tied to an office the way they have been. It`s an entire shift in the mindset of demarcation. Since 2005, the number of people working from home has more than doubled. for people who want to relocate, the decision has never been easier. Sunder Thadani. 20170226.

Subject: Aadhaar Number will work without Bank Account The Upcoming payment bank by IndiaPost will make it possible for over 112 crore Indians to send and receive money only on the basis of the Aadhaar number, even if it is not linked to any bank account. The IndiaPost which plans to start operation from September 2017, will make Aadhaar number as payment bank itself. The bank will cover 650 districts of the country to simplify and universalize payment systems. At present 40, 00,000,000 bank accounts in India are linked with Aadhaar. There are 500 million people who have feature phones, and around 350 million who are without any phones. The bank`s USP could be door-to-door banking with the help of the postman which nobody else is doing now. Sunder Thadani, Hon. Secretary.20170221.

Bharat QR to do away with swipe machines: Bharat QR, a quick response code jointly developed by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) that runs Rupay cards, Visa, MasterCard and American Express, under instructions form the RBI, is set to revolutionize electronic payment in the country. It does away with the swipe machines as digital payments can be done without traditional (black squares arranged in a square grid on a white background), machine readable optical label that contains information about the item to which it is attached. With the QR code, a customer no longer needs to enter the merchant`s ID or phone number to make payments. The payment can be made by scanning the QR code and entering the transaction amount is debited from the bank account without the need of a swiping machine. Bharat QR code has a static and dynamic variant. In a static QR code, the code has to be scanned before entering the amount on your smartphone, and authorized with a PIN, after the money will be debited. In case of dynamic QR code, the merchant will generate a new QR code for every transaction. He you do not have to enter the amount Sunder Thadani. 20170221.

The way I shoot is more so a way of life; it’s not something that I do, it’s just something that I kinda breath. My name is Sunder Thadani and I am a Mumbai City Citizen since 1947. One of the first things that I truly loved to do was to use computer, mobile phone, and iPod and you know, that somewhat really pushed me to get into the Digital World. There definitely came a point where I had to transition and because I was not going to continue to use these electronic gadgets as a professional player. I realized that I could rather take that dedication that I had with the hobby and I could put it into my art and into my craft of information and knowledge. So yeah, all the eLearning that I take out on the streets and just in the world -- I shoot it on film, I shoot it with my gadgets, and I bring it back into here. I develop modules for learning, you know, I make contact sheets, and I archive it. Then, I just continue to just live with the work. I like to just like look at the pictures -- I put them on my wall, I put them in boxes that I will carry around with me. When you think about eLearning, it can be very passive. It is as you can take out your phone and you can just snap a photo. I think for me it’s like, how do you be there? How do you get outside of what you think you already know? In addition, that is what I am trying to do with my eLearning. I do not want to make images that already exist in the world; I want to create something new. You know, through who I am. It is definitely great to see my work in the Times or in other publications and for it to be exposed for other people to see. However, if anything, it also just made me realize that I just want to continue to work harder because I feel like I am really just getting started. You know, it’s all about my sensitivity as an Indian and as a person in the society and just trying to reflect what’s out there in the world into eLearning. Regards Sunder Thadani – 20170208.

Subject: Coffin homes: Mumbaikars know the value of space. With hardly land space of 437 square miles radius, Mumbai has very small land for its population of 2,00,00,000+ (growing at the rate of 50o every day since 1947). Mumbaikars have learnt the hard way how to live with less, Less clutter, less money, less space. The day has come when he has no choice, but to compromise with "coffin homes", 20 square-foot cages that offer just enough space to lie down and hang a few shirts and pairs of pants. His monthly rent of Rs. 2000 would be enough to a roomy one-bedroom apartment in Mumbai.Instead, his living space measuring just 4`x6`. Mumbai housing prices are currently an all-time high, with the average price per square foot now hovering around Rs. 25000. Housing crisis is "the gravest potential hazard" to society, as only small land is zoned for housing. Regards. Sunder Thadani. 20170211

India: In Pune city, the First city Wi-Fi deal is won by Internet giant Google. The latest contract is valued at Rs. 150 crores and includes capital expenditure, operating expenditure and revenue sharing elements. 15% to 20% revenue generated will be shared with the authorities. Under the contract, Google will deploy its Google Station platform, which has Wi-Fi network management capabilities and focuses on monetisation to make the service self-sustainable. Railtel, on the other hand will provide last-mile fiber to enable Wi-Fi hotspots, at about 200 strategic locations across the city. The plan is to integrate all public places on a single platform to aggregate Wi-Fi hotspots, that will allow access with one-time authentication. Sunder Thadani. 20170209

Adorable 90 year olds go on a blind date and renew our faith in love! Share We have all heard about age being just a number and all that, but it’s not very often you come across stories of nonagenarian’s going on blind dates. Just a few days ago, Miriam Steiner, 93,and Harold Sharlin, 90 met at a bookstore in D.C. called Poetry and Prose for a blind date. Their cupid was none other than Sharlin’s daughter who served Steiner in her restaurant. Sharlin was so proud of his daughter for knowing his ‘type’ and said "My Jenny was so impressed with Miriam's pep and vigor that she said, 'You'd make a great date for my grandfather!'" and quickly set them up. The couple said they had a great time chatting together at the bookstores. Steiner said love and companionship at any age is always welcome and is "up there with Medicare and Social Security." We sure know what Jenny saw in the intelligent, warm Miriam Steiner. It’s stories like this that gives us single folk hope that it can never be too late for love. We’re glad to know that we are never going to miss the bus, because there’s always going to be another one around the corner.Sunder Thadani. 20170207.

Woman empower for equality: Woman around the world are fighting for the right to live their lives on their own terms, without a constantly nagging patriarchal society pulling them down at every step they take. There is no dearth of pictures of these marches on social media. But what grabs one`s attention is the fact that, even in the year 2017, the idea of a "woman`s march", of women coming out of onto streets as an empowered, consolidated group is an unusual one. Because the "street", the "outside" is the man`s domain. So when a woman gets out on the street, she is committing a transgression, she is a deviation from the norm. There are multiple layers and nuances where women's rights are concerned and thus we see multiple shades of feminism. We com across terms like womanism because the formerly used terminology proves to be inadequate and needs to evolve. with the ever increasing complexities of the issue and the rise of misogynistic leaders, one needs to be sensitive to the issue. Only when the nuances of the problem are understood can it be tackled adequately. We need not have umbrella terms, or blanket policies but a comprehensive understanding of situations. Only when the intricacies are looked into can the issue be resolved. This is reproduced for the information of the public and create awareness among the members of sunderfriends. Regards.
