sundercircle Fairs and Festivals Ganesh Chaturthi Mumbai Festivals are linked with traditional values, cultures and customs. These festivals depict the nature of human relationships and popular beliefs. Also, these festivals pass on past traditions to the present generation to make them aware of the associated rich culture and tradition. The most common festivals of the city account to Dussera, Moharram, Shivratri, Christmas, Budha Purnima etc. which add more color and vibrancy to Indian culture. Festivals are generally celebrated either to honor religious occasions or to welcome various seasons of the year etc. Most of these festivals are common throughout the country but might be known by different names and marked by different rituals in different regions. Even though Mumbai is a cosmopolitan city, all the festivals are welcome with great vigor and color. For instance, Mumbai has a great section of Parsi population and hence the Parsi New Year is celebrated with great passion. Ganesh Chaturthi is the major festival of Mumbai which lasts for ten days and is held during August-September. This festival is seen as a truly feisty celebration of the people of Mumbai. The festivals of Holi, Raksha Bandhan,Dusshera, Navratri and Diwali are the prime occasions for the Hindus, while Eid is celebrated with great fervour by the Muslims. Easter & Christmas are celebrated among Christians and non-Christians alike. Though associated with certain religions, in most of the cases, these festivals are celebrated beyond the specific religion, cast and creed. All the festivals have a lot to reveal about the religion, its history and related rituals. Apart from religious festival, Mumbai also hosts arts festivals like Elephanta festival, Kala Ghoda festival and Banganga festival. Tourists from all over the world travel to Mumbai to witness splendor and vigor of the people during the celebrations. Elephanta Festival Elephanta festival is organized by the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) to promote Mumbai tourism and culture. It is one of the most prominently celebrated festivals in Mumbai. This renowned festival is held on the Elephanta Island, adjacent to the Elephanta Cave, a World Heritage Site. The Island is located at a distance of ten kilometres from Mumbai Banganga Festival Banganga festival is a two-day music festival celebrated annually in the month of January in Malabar Hills, Mumbai, conducted jointly by MTDC ((Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation) and Indian Heritage Society Mumbai, to protect the cultural heritage of the country. The festival owes its name to the Banganga tank, a holy tank located in the complex of Walkeshwar temple in Malabar hills. The festival which was first Ganesh Chaturthi Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha, the Hindu god who is believed to be powerful enough to eliminate all obstacles. Falling in the months of August and September, this is one of the festivals which Mumbaites celebrate with great zeal and enthusiasm. Lord Ganesh is regarded as the patron saint of Maharashtra and over 6000 idols are commissioned in Mumbai every year. Kala Ghoda Festival One of the most prominent cultural events in Mumbai, Kala Ghoda festival is organised by the Kala Ghoda Association. This cultural feast celebrates varied art forms, including music, dance, theatre etc., and also involves seminars and workshops related to arts.

sundercircle The people of Mumbai are considered to be a chirpy, tireless lot who are streamlined for a fast paced life in the city. Colloquially known as 'Mumbaikars' or 'Bombayites', the inhabitants of this city are often considered as hard-working, cultural, witty, modern people, who are passionate about their lives and are very approachable. It is hard, or almost impossible to define a true Mumbaikar, because a true Mumbaikar is one who is the perfect transfusion of North-meets-South, one who is passionate about cinema, one who loves food, shopping and can be quite pompous about the typical life led in the city every day. Distances from one place to another never seem to bother Bombayites, because it is very common to travel for hours in order to reach one place from another. Mumbaikars are very particular about time and love to be punctual. A blend of different communities, religions and customs, the diversity of the city enables the inhabitants to live life to the fullest and work extremely hard to make all ends meet. Although technologically and industrially advanced, the people of Mumbai are deeply enrooted to their values, religion and principles. Read on for more information on the people of Mumbai.Regards. NotProudToBeIndian: An American lady, wishing to come over to India during the lean days of 1950, enquired of American officials as to what she should take with her to alleviate in some measure the miseries of the people. "Shall I take rice," she asked, "or what, or canned foods, or medicines?" The man in charge listened to her patiently, grinned and said: "Lady, what Indians need most is CASH." CASH! Tat cerainly is what we Indians welcome most. I am afraid we are, have been, and will long remain worshippers of what D.H.Lawrence rudely called the Bitch-Goddess. For us she is a shining deity. NotProudToBeIndia: An Indian may be a god or a devil. I have said, but he is definitely not a plain human being. Well, what makes him tick? It is not my intention to juggle with words. I am going to call a spade a spade. The Indian is said to be the most spiritual man on earth. This is worse than clotted nonsense. We have propagated the myth because we need something to boast about. Why should we not have a quality that the West is supposed not to possess? Our inferiority in many domains has compelled us to credit ourselves with wings. The fact is, and it had better be started without beating about the bush, we are the most materialistic people in the world. Matter and spirit may or may not be indivisible (let thinkers dispute about this), but our Indian knows that matter takes precedence over spirit.(will continue in next post). Regards. India: There is no doubt that Indian various racial strains have made Indians what are at present- people with no distinctive soul, but with only a many-coloured psyche. But to say this is not to say all. Indian sould, climate and vegetation have played their part in moulding India. As there is a lot of nonsense talked on this subject, let us linger it a little. Every country affects its dwellers in a particular way. A psychologist has observed that a monkey sent to Germany for scientific observation begins to brood and behave like a Teuton, while the same monkey dispatched to the United States reacts like a restless American, always on the go. The infinite spectrum of creativity has often been perceived as limited to fields like art and literature. With the limitations of the mind, we tend to believe that `creativity` means art, literature, dance or music. But once we transcend the mind, then we realise that from the smallest speck of dust to the largest planet in cosmos, every area is part of creativity; even a glade of grass is immaculately designed and shaped, has been given a specific colour, identity; and consciousness, but which is in sleep mode. When we say `creativity` then whatever our senses can perceive and what is beyond perception, what we can think about and whatever is beyond thinking comes in the realm of creativity, Creativity is much bigger and we need to broaden our vision to understand this. Freedom & Punishment There is a myth among people that the Almighty punishes us for our wrongdoings. But the fact is that HE does not punish anyone; punishment is an automatic process of universal rebalance working itself out through time. It is actually a simultaneous process of realisation and responsibility. Hence we should not really call it punishment, but justice. However, above justice, there is one power that cancels the debts, the imbalances, the sorrow. That power is Love, which in its pure form is called Divine Love and comes directly from Supreme. With great compassion, Divine Love cancels the past, dissolves our debts and releases the soul from its various accounts, provided we love and respect others to the extent we love and respect ourselves. But, if we return to our old habit of misusing our freedom, then there is no alternative but punishment- Brahmakumar Nikunj Ji (this is reproduced for the information and benefit of our members in "sundercircle". DigiEdu4all, feefreeonline http:/DigiEdu4al, feefreeoline.wordpress.com, Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra, India The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. We like to think big. But we are aware that every important change begins with a small Step. And the first step we made was in Romania. We started out twenty years ago and we developed several projects in the area of social services for people with special needs. Since 1994, we have continuously made small steps towards helping people with special needs across Romania receive better care, regain hope and above all, live a normal life in their communities. Our mission We aim to enhance quality of life and offer a chance to reintegration for people with special needs. Our vision We envision a moment when all these small steps will result in a meaningful existence for every individual with special needs. In 10 years spent in Mumbai, our Managing Trustee has become one of the most active players in the area of social services for people with special needs and has been particularly noted for projects developed in Mumbai Read more Each of our projects focuses on three key priorities: • To offer an opportunity to individuals with disabilities to reintegrate into their local communities. • To empower individuals with disabilities to realize their potential and become active members of the society. • To create awareness and involve public opinion in accepting and helping people with disabilities. We focus on training, raising awareness, as well as providing special equipment’s and expertise to centers for people with disabilities. In each of our projects, we work as often as possible with locals and we use material resources available in Romania. All our programs have been implemented in cooperation with our local partners, in order to insure sustainability of our activities in the long-term. Determined by our experience during the years spent in Romania, we have engaged in creating our own center, The Dutch House, in order to be able to truly fulfill our mission and provide adequate care at the highest standards for people with special needs. We started our activity as a project group, constantly motivated by the will to help people with disabilities in Romania. Twenty years later, our small group became a powerful team. Our young volunteers have embraced our goals – they are the most important part of a team that constantly grows and includes members from the local communities where we develop our programs. You can also become a member of our enthusiastic group. You will enjoy all the opportunities we offer, while helping those in need. Contact us Kind Regards Sunder T

Sunderblogger-218 Secrets to Success- I don`t employ/display the word “secrets” very often. But the richest of the richest think, feel and do things that most people don’t know about (remember: “To have the lives very few have, think and do what only very few do”). And so they are secrets. Here are some of them based on my 20 years of coaching many of the richest, most successful people in business and working with the superstar producers: Secret 1: The Don`t Care What Other Think; Secret 2: Emotions Power Wealth; Secret 3: Your Money Never Exceeds Your Identity. sunderblogger.20151003 1. You need very little to be happy. Some simple plant food, modest shelter, a couple changes of clothes, a good book, a notebook, some meaningful work, and some loved ones. 2. Want little, and you are not poor. You can have a lot of money and possessions, but if you always want more, you are poorer than the guy who has little and wants nothing. 3. Focus on the present. Stop worrying about the future and holding onto the past. How much of your day is spent thinking about things other than where you are and what you're doing, physically, at this moment? How often are we living as opposed to stuck thinking about other things? Live now and you live fully. 4. Be happy with what you have and where you are. Too often we want to be somewhere else, doing something else, with other people than whomever we're with right now, getting things other than what we already have. But where we are is great! Who we're with (including just ourselves) is already perfect. What we have is enough. What we're doing already is amazing. 5. Be grateful for the small pleasures in life. Berries, a square of dark chocolate, tea - simple pleasures that are so much better than rich desserts, sugary drinks, fried foods if you learn to enjoy them fully. A good book borrowed from the library, a walk with a loved one in the park, the fine exertion of a short hard work out, the crazy things your child says, the smile of a stranger, walking barefoot on grass, a moment of quiet as the morning wakens and the world still rests. These little pleasures are living well, without needing much. 6. Be driven by joy and not fear. People are driven by the fear of missing out, or the fear of change, or the fear of losing something. These are not good reasons to do things. Instead, do things because they give you or others joy? Let your work be driven not because you need to support a lifestyle and are afraid of changing it, but by the joy of doing something creative, meaningful, valuable. 7. Practice compassion. Compassion for others creates loving, rewarding relationships. Compassion for yourself means forgiving yourself for past mistakes, treating yourself well (including eating well and exercising), loving yourself as you are. 8. Forget about productivity and numbers. They matter not at all. If you are driven to do things to reach certain numbers (goals), you have probably lost sight of what's important. If you are striving to be productive, you are filling your days with things just to be productive, which is a waste of a day. This day is a gift, and shouldn't be crammed with every possible thing - spend time enjoying it and what you're doing. Regards. Sunder T. 20151003 sunderblogger.life4living.20151003.docx __._,_.___

India4u: Solar power 100,000MW The target for solar electric capacity from 20,000MW to 100,000MW by 2022 at a cost of about US$ 100 billion need a through check up and thinking for the new government who has just finished 365 days of rule. Solar electricity is most promising. But it is also hugely subsidiezed today. Stripped of subsidies, solar pwer currently cost 14 cents/unit (abt. Rs.9.5/unit). India should opt for solar energy when it is cheaper and it is estblished as competitive and even then onlh to the extent it does not disturb the grid. Taking risk at this juncture is not very practical. Need second thinking on the subject. Kind Regards! Sunder Thadani. - -
