The way I shoot is more so a way of life; it’s not something that I do, it’s just something that I kinda breath. My name is Sunder Thadani and I am a Mumbai City Citizen since 1947. One of the first things that I truly loved to do was to use computer, mobile phone, and iPod and you know, that somewhat really pushed me to get into the Digital World. There definitely came a point where I had to transition and because I was not going to continue to use these electronic gadgets as a professional player. I realized that I could rather take that dedication that I had with the hobby and I could put it into my art and into my craft of information and knowledge. So yeah, all the eLearning that I take out on the streets and just in the world -- I shoot it on film, I shoot it with my gadgets, and I bring it back into here. I develop modules for learning, you know, I make contact sheets, and I archive it. Then, I just continue to just live with the work. I like to just like look at the pictures -- I put them on my wall, I put them in boxes that I will carry around with me. When you think about eLearning, it can be very passive. It is as you can take out your phone and you can just snap a photo. I think for me it’s like, how do you be there? How do you get outside of what you think you already know? In addition, that is what I am trying to do with my eLearning. I do not want to make images that already exist in the world; I want to create something new. You know, through who I am. It is definitely great to see my work in the Times or in other publications and for it to be exposed for other people to see. However, if anything, it also just made me realize that I just want to continue to work harder because I feel like I am really just getting started. You know, it’s all about my sensitivity as an Indian and as a person in the society and just trying to reflect what’s out there in the world into eLearning. Regards Sunder Thadani – 20170208.

Subject: Coffin homes: Mumbaikars know the value of space. With hardly land space of 437 square miles radius, Mumbai has very small land for its population of 2,00,00,000+ (growing at the rate of 50o every day since 1947). Mumbaikars have learnt the hard way how to live with less, Less clutter, less money, less space. The day has come when he has no choice, but to compromise with "coffin homes", 20 square-foot cages that offer just enough space to lie down and hang a few shirts and pairs of pants. His monthly rent of Rs. 2000 would be enough to a roomy one-bedroom apartment in Mumbai.Instead, his living space measuring just 4`x6`. Mumbai housing prices are currently an all-time high, with the average price per square foot now hovering around Rs. 25000. Housing crisis is "the gravest potential hazard" to society, as only small land is zoned for housing. Regards. Sunder Thadani. 20170211

India: In Pune city, the First city Wi-Fi deal is won by Internet giant Google. The latest contract is valued at Rs. 150 crores and includes capital expenditure, operating expenditure and revenue sharing elements. 15% to 20% revenue generated will be shared with the authorities. Under the contract, Google will deploy its Google Station platform, which has Wi-Fi network management capabilities and focuses on monetisation to make the service self-sustainable. Railtel, on the other hand will provide last-mile fiber to enable Wi-Fi hotspots, at about 200 strategic locations across the city. The plan is to integrate all public places on a single platform to aggregate Wi-Fi hotspots, that will allow access with one-time authentication. Sunder Thadani. 20170209

Adorable 90 year olds go on a blind date and renew our faith in love! Share We have all heard about age being just a number and all that, but it’s not very often you come across stories of nonagenarian’s going on blind dates. Just a few days ago, Miriam Steiner, 93,and Harold Sharlin, 90 met at a bookstore in D.C. called Poetry and Prose for a blind date. Their cupid was none other than Sharlin’s daughter who served Steiner in her restaurant. Sharlin was so proud of his daughter for knowing his ‘type’ and said "My Jenny was so impressed with Miriam's pep and vigor that she said, 'You'd make a great date for my grandfather!'" and quickly set them up. The couple said they had a great time chatting together at the bookstores. Steiner said love and companionship at any age is always welcome and is "up there with Medicare and Social Security." We sure know what Jenny saw in the intelligent, warm Miriam Steiner. It’s stories like this that gives us single folk hope that it can never be too late for love. We’re glad to know that we are never going to miss the bus, because there’s always going to be another one around the corner.Sunder Thadani. 20170207.

Woman empower for equality: Woman around the world are fighting for the right to live their lives on their own terms, without a constantly nagging patriarchal society pulling them down at every step they take. There is no dearth of pictures of these marches on social media. But what grabs one`s attention is the fact that, even in the year 2017, the idea of a "woman`s march", of women coming out of onto streets as an empowered, consolidated group is an unusual one. Because the "street", the "outside" is the man`s domain. So when a woman gets out on the street, she is committing a transgression, she is a deviation from the norm. There are multiple layers and nuances where women's rights are concerned and thus we see multiple shades of feminism. We com across terms like womanism because the formerly used terminology proves to be inadequate and needs to evolve. with the ever increasing complexities of the issue and the rise of misogynistic leaders, one needs to be sensitive to the issue. Only when the nuances of the problem are understood can it be tackled adequately. We need not have umbrella terms, or blanket policies but a comprehensive understanding of situations. Only when the intricacies are looked into can the issue be resolved. This is reproduced for the information of the public and create awareness among the members of sunderfriends. Regards. Social Media – boom or bust? If you wish to remain safe and have a good sleep at night, it is high time you should think of eight things should be deleted from Social Media right now. 1. Your phone Number: People can skim through your account for personal details or simply use it like bored teen for prank calls. 2. Photos: Today Social Media checks are becoming staple of employers` pre-job offer hit list. Stumbling across 40 snaps of you slumped out a club in a stained shirt isn't going to impress them 3. Your date of birth: This can be used for less generous uses than an annual `happy birthday` greetings. 4. Location: Dont do it. All you're doing is giving away your address and that`s just one of the bits needed to give away your identity. 5. Airport or holiday photos: Exposed to burglaries to explore 6. Your boss: You might lose your job. Pitfalls to catch you off guard. 7. Pictures of your ex: 8. Anything that your firecrackers mate tags you in Sunder Thadani. 20170126

India: Toilets that churn gold for the soil in Bihar `ecosan` (ecological sanitation) toilets known as phaydemand shauchalaya not only provide sanitation, but also control groundwater pollution and generate humanure and urine for agricultural us. It started in Kairi, a Tharu tribe village of 138 families in Paschchim Champaran, Bihar by a local resident Yogendra Nath, about two years ago. Cost of toilet was Rs. 18,015; of which Rs. 12,000 was funded by government. These toilets not only provide hygienic place for defecation, but also support agriculture practices. On an average, the annual faecal matter and urine of one human being contains 4.6 nitrogen, 0.6 kg phosphorous and .1.3 kg potassium. These toilet recycle them. In two years time, 31 ecosan toilets have together generated 108 quintals of humanure and 24,900 liters of urine, which has been supplied in the fields. The saving of Rs. 12,000 resulted due to stoppage of buying chemical fertilisers per year.
